For 5 years the city of love has been guarding a special, open-air installation featuring Garvan in-wall loudspeakers: discover the multimedia work of art Viale dei Canti at the Italian cultural institute in Paris. Six Garvan in-wall, flush-mounted speakers are integrated into the wall and accompany the visitors along the sound path of Viale dei Canti, a creation by the internationally renowned composer Stefano Gervasoni.

On the wall along the avenue are engraved the famous verses from “Night song of a wandering shepherd from Asia”, a poem by Giacomo Leopardi, together with four poems by other famous artists. The graffiti was created thanks to the dusting technique and the characters were engraved by hand one by one.

The work was the result of a collaboration with Giuseppe Caccavale, an artist who represented Italy in the 2015 Venice Biennale. Marco Liuni, mathematician and musician, and Alvise Vidolin, expert in sound and electroacoustic techniques, conceived the electroacoustic amplification system.

The speakers part of this work of art are Garvan’s in-wall, flush-mounted speakers SIR16M manufactured in 316 stainless steel, suitable for outdoor HI-Fi use.

The graffiti has been wished and organized by the former director of the Institute, Marina Valensise, a charismatic woman who carries out her job with great passion and enthusiasm and who has acted as the joining link of the team of professionals who worked together to create Viale dei Canti.
